Object: Knowledge is sweeter than honey
Location: The British Museum, Room 25 (Africa)

This artwork created by Susan Hefuna in 2007 depicts a traditional mashrabiya Egyptian screen. It provides an interesting representation of the ideas of privacy and knowledge, private spaces versus the public gaze, with the inscription of the screen speaking directly of the power of knowledge. It calls to mind relevant contemporary issues of privacy allowing us to question which side of the screen we really inhabit.
